President of the European Council Visits Special National Heritage Site Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám

On the afternoon of January 29, 2026, as part of his official visit to Vietnam, Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Special National Heritage Site of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoàng Đạo Cương welcomed and joined the delegation throughout the program.

During the visit, the President of the European Council and members of the delegation toured the heritage site in its entirety, while receiving an introduction to the history, cultural and educational values, and the special role of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám in the course of Vietnam's national development. Iconic architectural works such as Khuê Văn Các, the Doctoral Stele Garden, and Điện Đại Thành, together with the ancient and harmonious landscape, left a profound impression on the delegation.

Highly appreciating the work of preserving and promoting heritage values, Mr. Antonio Costa expressed his admiration for the historical, educational, and cultural values that have been continuously safeguarded over many centuries at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. The President of the European Council was particularly impressed by the harmonious blend of traditional architecture and green spaces, which together contribute to a heritage complex of great historical depth, vividly reflecting Vietnam's cultural identity.

At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Antonio Costa signed the guestbook, expressing his gratitude for the warm and attentive reception and the meaningful experiences at one of Hà Nội's most iconic historical and cultural heritage sites.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoàng Đạo Cương presented Mr. Antonio Costa with a commemorative publication about Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám as a culturally meaningful souvenir, conveying appreciation for the visit and helping to introduce the site's outstanding historical and educational values to international friends.
