QUOC TU GIAM – THE FIRST NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

The exhibition "Quoc Tu Giam – The First National University" introduces the formation and development of Quoc Tu Giam through a system of artifacts, historical documents, and representative stories associated with each stage in the development of Vietnam's Confucian educational and examination system. Through a highly visual and comprehensive approach, the exhibition honors the Vietnamese tradition of learning, the spirit of respecting and nurturing talent, and the long-standing educational heritage of the nation across many centuries.

The exhibition space takes visitors on a journey through time, exploring Quoc Tu Giam from the Ly dynasty to the present day. At the entrance, visitors encounter a chronological wall extending throughout the exhibition space like a flowing historical stream, illustrating the establishment and evolution of Quoc Tu Giam alongside the development of Vietnam's traditional educational and examination system. Each historical period is marked by distinguished cultural figures, successful scholars, and important national events.

In addition to the exhibition content, the space also incorporates interactive activities that provide visitors with vivid and engaging experiences. At the end of the exhibition, visitors may participate in a calligraphy activity using brush pens on a "Magic Board." The written characters gradually appear on the surface before slowly fading away after a few minutes, creating a temporary yet meaningful interaction with the exhibition space.

Opposite this area is an interactive viewing device through which visitors can observe three-dimensional images of the Doctoral Stelae.

Organized within the historic site of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, the exhibition offers the public an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the educational traditions, examination system, and talent selection process of Vietnam during the feudal period. Through this experience, visitors can better appreciate the enduring value of Quoc Tu Giam — a distinguished center of learning that accompanied the educational history of Vietnam for more than seven centuries.

58 Quoc Tu Giam Street, Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi.
